Vitamin B-1 (Thiamine) is a water-soluble vitamin that is important for carbohydrate metabolism and has a positive effect on energy, growth and brain function. As our bodies cannot store Vitamin B-1, it has to be obtained from our diet on a daily basis.
Common food sources include fortified breakfast cereal, nuts, legumes and pork. People who lack of Vitamin B-1 might experience symptoms such as constipation, edema (water retention), fatigue, poor appetite, and irritability.
